Just one year before his master thesis in genetics was to be tested, Bogdan decided to take on another challenge- – ballroom dancing. He joined beginner classes for college students, which quickly led to a life-long passion for dancing.
While still studying genetics and sociology, Bogdan rose in the ranks of competitive ballroom dancing. Shortly after receiving his master’s degree in biology from Jagiellonian University in Krakow, he began work as a dance instructor for children just to join the best dance center for competitive dancing, where he started dancing with his new dance partner (now his wife), Gosia.
Bogdan and Gosia became dance instructors in the Culture House Agora in Olsztyn, Poland, which has brought up many children and teens through the competitive ranks, as well as providing social dance classes for the entire city.
While teaching dance, Bodgan and Gosia pursued a professional dance career, eventually becoming finalists in Polish championships. Their ranking opened doors to represent Poland in many international competitions throughout Europe. As members of the Elite Formation Team, they were third in Europe and fourth in the World Championships.
Eventually, Bogdan and Gosia moved to England for two years to study with the best coaches in the world. Afterward, they moved to Florida, their home for the past 20 years, where they dedicated themselves to teaching, pursuing their professional dancing and raising three children at the same time. They moved into the top 12 couples in the U.S. National Championships, winning many competitions, among them Rising Star at Millennium Dancesport. Many of Bogdan’s students have won medals at U.S. Pro-Am Championships, while many more are simply happy, confident dancers!
Gosia is originally from Poland and started dancing when she was 10 years old. She performed in a children’s group called “Joy” for 5 years. When she was 16 she started dancing with a dance troupe called ‘Mirage” which placed highly at competitions throughout Europe and the World.
In 1990 she studied ballroom dancing in England with some of the best coaches in the dancing world. After that, she along with her husband moved to the United States to pursue he career as both a teacher and a competitor of the International Style.
After a very successful competitive dancing career and having three children, Gosia and Bogdan followed their dreams and opened up the Magic Dance Club, a family friendly studio where anyone can learn to dance.
Karolina Ledogar has been a professional ballroom dancer and instructor since 1998, starting in Connecticut and then migrating to warm weather of Florida in 2000. Kyle White loves to dance and brings more than 30 years of dance experience to Magic Dance Club. Kyle comes to the ballroom world via ballet and Broadway, having been a professional ballet dancer who trained on scholarship at the Joffrey Ballet School in NYC, and then a Broadway dancer, appearing on The Great White Way and in national tours, as well as regional theater, in shows such as “La Cage Aux Folles,” “Meet Me in St. Louis,” “Me and My Girl,” “Anything Goes,” “Can-Can”(with Chita Rivera and the Rockettes), “42nd Street” and “A Chorus Line.”
A graduate of the University of South Florida’s dance department (he also has his master’s in Mass Communications from USF), Kyle’s dance experience runs the gamut from contemporary dance and ballet to tap and jazz, as well as ballroom dance. He wishes there had been a show like “ So, You Think You Can Dance” when he was starting out!
Kyle taught tap for three years at the Patel Conservatory at the Straz Center (formerly the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center), an experience that he holds near and dear to his heart (“If you can clap, you can tap!”). Kyle truly feels that he is most joyous when on the dance floor and invites all the ladies to join him for a fox trot, rumba or any dance of their choice whenever they’ are at the Magic Dance Club. Let’s dance!
